Saoirse Ronan brings home comforts to The Host set

At a gallery last night, Saorise Ronan talks about The Host and whether she feels she life will be like that of Kristen Stewart and Twilight cast members.

Saoirse also told the Irish Herald that she has home comforts on the set:

The budding A-lister, who travels all over the world, divulged she even packs a plastic bag in her suitcase stuffed with Barry’s Tea and crisps whenever she goes abroad on a shoot.

“Every single film set I go to I have things from home like that with me… It still tastes different though, it’s never a proper Irish cup of tea unfortunately.”

And there was a panic when the starlet ran out of her supply on set in Louisiana, where she filmed Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s new flick The Host.

“We ran out of teabags over there so we had to get loads more sent over and any Irish person visiting New Orleans was ordered to bring some with them. It’s very important.”

Saoirse Ronan loves more than just the romance in The Host

Saoirse Ronan chatted with The Irish Independent yesterday about her involvement playing Melanie/Wanderer in The Host.

“It’s a given at this stage that romantic stories are going to be offered to me but I’m more interested in the story and characters. It’s just not important if there are love scenes in it…I have two different characters who are in love with different men…The good thing was that I got on so well with Max and Jake. I knew them both before we started filming and we were very comfortable working together.”

EW on the set of The Host!

EW was just on the set of The Host movie and they have some insider details for us.

Fans of Stephenie Meyer’s 600-plus-page novel have likely already gathered from the description above that film interpretation of The Seeker is almost the exact opposite of how she’s described in the book. Instead of small, dark-haired, and clad mostly in black, the very blonde Kruger stands regally on some serious wedge heels, dressed in a futuristic cream-colored pant suit. It’s a change designed by writer-director Andrew Niccol (Gattica, In Time) to reflect the “purity” of the egalitarian Souls, and Meyer told me on the set that she happily embraced it. Gattica is her favorite sci-fi film of all time.

As for the delightful Ronan, although she wasn’t working that day, she came out to the set to speak with EW about the film, one day after the Oscar-nominated Irish actress turned 18. We’ll have video of our interviews with her, Meyer, Kruger, and Irons in the coming months — the movie, which is still shooting, isn’t hitting theaters until March 29, 2013, after all — but I can tell you how Ronan is differentiating the alien Wanderer from the internal voice of Melanie in the film. It’s actually quite simple: The Wanderer speaks with a generic American accent, whereas Melanie’s voice is inflected with a Louisiana twang, another Meyer-approved tweak from the book.

Frances Fisher Tweets from the New Mexican Desert!

Frances Fisher, who plays Maggie, tweeted the featured photo using her IPhone just as the cast and crew were playing beat the clock to get a scene in before a thunderstorm rolled in. I asked her on Twitter how hot it was out there in the New Mexican desert and surprisingly she said only 80 degrees. So it’s hot , but at least on that day they weren’t roasting! Here are some more of her recent tweets:

Andrew Niccol’s adaptation is true to the book

On the thunderstorm: We were scrambling 2 finish b4 the rain came!

When she is filming until(minus possible reshoots of course): April 27

I read the book after I read the script.
